Is there a place that has pictures of old/out-of-date prescription
medications. I am particularly looking for a purple pill that would
have been available in the 1950's and was used for treating depression
or other mental health disorders. I have looked through current
prescription medication information and cannot find it.

Thank you tlspiegel-ga - I will explore that option, but to clarify,
this is a description based on memory. I do not have the real thing.
I am thinking there may be an old copy of a PDR online; but I may have
to go to a real library for an archival copy.

There is no answer at this time.

Hi elra,

I phoned the Poison Control Center and asked them if their data base
would possibly go back to the 1950's. I thought if it did, they could
maybe help you identify the pill.

She told me it wasn't likely that their data went back that far, but
you might give it a try if you have one of the pills to describe size,
color and markings such as a numbers or letters. Their number is:
1-800-222-1222. If you do call, let them know right away it's not an
emergency!

You're other option, if they can't help and you do have one of the
pills is to take it to your local pharmacy and possibly they might be
able to identify it for you.

I hope this has been some help. Best regards,
tlspiegel
