Hi there,

Which firewall do you have installed, on which operating system and
why do you wish to remove it?

Please provide a few more details and I'm sure we can help.

The term "firewall" is very broad. Let us know precisely what hardware
you are using, which operating system, and the name of the firewall
you've installed, and we can probably tell you how to uninstall it.

Of course, if you're speaking of getting rid of someone else's
firewall (such as that of your employer or university), we can't help
you, since Google Answers Researchers are not permitted to assist in
illegal activities.

red002-ga:

Thank you for your question regarding the personal firewall built into
Trend Micro's PC Cillin Internet Security product.

First, before telling you how to disable the firewall, I would urge
you to take a look in the Help file for PC Cillin, under the topic
"Managing Personal Firewall Profiles". The firewall can be adjusted to
meet your specific needs; however, it is best to do this using the
profiles, and the Help file contains the best instructions available
on working with the profiles.

However, if you still want to just disable the Firewall completely,
please do the following:

1. Open the Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security window
2. Select the Firewall > Firewall Profiles.
3. Uncheck the "Enable Personal Firewall" checkbox (note that you need
administrator rights on your computer in order to do this).

Again, I would urge you to read the Help file, and adjust your profile
instead to allow only the applications YOU want to pass through the
firewall.

how do you find managing personal firewall profiles? what do you click on?

Clarification of Answer by aht-ga on 31 Dec 2003 14:46 PST
I am assuming that your follow-up question has to do with how to
access the "Managing Personal Firewall Profiles" topic in the Help
file.

To find this, do the following:

1. Open the Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security program window
2. Select Help at the top of the window
3. Select "Contents and Index"
4. In the index, look for "Managing Personal Firewall Profiles", and click on it.
5. Read it, and follow the instructions in the online help.

Hope this helps,

aht-ga
