I recall a short (:30 second) nightly news TV segment a few days prior to the 9/11 attacks about a man who climbed a fence at a US government building (could have been an embassy, military installation or the White House, etc...) The news reported 'he urgently wanted to talk to the President...' and was detained/arrested. I would like to know more about this incident and read any articles available to help research the details. The incident may not have been inside the US, it could have been at an embassy... I'm not sure, but I believe the man could have been reported as not being a US citizen. The event would not have been more then 6 weeks prior to the 9/11 attacks... It more likely occurred within 1 week of the 9/11 events. My searches on Google have yet to produce any links that seem to relate to this incident. Recapping, it was a single man, he wanted to talk to the President and it was a few weeks (days) prior to the 9/11 attacks. |

Perhaps this: According to the New York Times, Sept. 7, 2001, the Secret Service arrested a 44-year-old man who intruded into the White House grounds. No name or motive was provideded. Source: NYT, "Intruder at White House," Sept. 7, 2001, http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C02E0DC1039F934A3575AC0A9679C8B63. A brief on this incident also appeared in The Washington Post in its "Crime & Justice" column that day, available for a fee through its online archives. |
