i want to get more credit card offers

I'm looking for a new credit card, and I moved about 3 months ago, so the companies don't send very many offers to my current address. What's a good way of getting them to send me more offers, without appearing like someone who's desperate for credit (and therefore doesn't deserve a low interest rate)? |

What about checking out web sites that offer comparisons of different cards in order to find the best rates? For example: http://www.creditcardcatalog.com/ |

Wow! Where do you live? Here in the UK, new offers are popping up every day. Why not try ebay? They often have adverts running along the top of MyEbay but, of course, that's in the UK. Best of luck! |

beatle-ga: In addition to tehuti-ga's suggestion, you can also go directly to the two largest credit card issuers in the US (assuming you are in the US), and apply directly: MBNA WorldPoints Platinum Plus (no fee, 11.99% fixed APR on purchases/transfers) https://wwwa.applyonlinenow.com/USapp/Ctl/redirect?CV_sourceCode=F8SN&CV_MC=A000000XPH CapitalOne Visa Platinum (no fee, 8.9% fixed APR on purchases/transfers) http://apply2.capitalone.com/7968/13-719/index.jsp?c=CardProd&s=07968013719XXCO11XX1PLATINUMXX&t=ad You can probably get better offers, but if you are in a hurry, applying for either one will get you onto the mailing lists for these two companies. If neither of these is good enough for you, and you really do want to be inundated with mail offers, please note that both of these companies have affinity programs with just about every single association and group out there. If you've updated your address with any associations or groups that you belong to, you should be getting those unsolicited offers soon... and wishing that they'd stop! :) aht-ga Google Answers Researcher |

I now see that there are 3 'sponsored links' running along the top of this very page! However, they all link into UK sites: www.moneysupermarket.com www.morganstanley.com/cards www.shopsonthenet.com/cards If you are not in the UK, I assume that you may have a different selection of sponsored links. If you are in America ... Burgers & Coke If you are in Germany ... Sauerkraut If you are in Russia .... Vodka |

beatle-ga: Sorry, one more method that I should mention. Go to the Publishers Clearing House website ( http://www.pch.com ) and set up an account. Make sure you check the box to give PCH permission to share your contact info with their partners, and you will start getting more junk mail (including credit card offers) than you will know what to do with. |

Welcome back, beatle! You will want to review the online credit card possibilities first and then select one or two to which you'd like to apply. Every time you apply for a credit card, your credit rating will take a hit. Additionally, if your credit record shows 5 or 6 companies accessing it within a very short time, subsequent companies will probably figure that you're desperately trying to obtain credit with the intent to run up a big bill, and will likely decline your request for credit. Best wishes, ace |

It sounds like you're asking for trouble. Instead of searching for the lowest rate, focus your attention on paying off your balance at the end of EVERY billing period. DO NOT permit a balance to carry over to the next month. To do so may result in the rate jumping up to 20 or 30%. If you can't pay off your balance every billing period, then don't buy the stuff. That's how so many people drive themselves to bankruptcy. Peter Rosko Professor of Finance University of Minnesota |
