I am looking for the exact quote from a statement made by the actress
Tea Leoni about her husband, actor David Duchovny. I would also like
to know the date and cirumstance (an interview with a particular
magazine, on a talk show, etc.) that the statement was made. The
comment she made was, I believe, in response to a question about
whether or not David was her ideal man. She said no, that he
surpassed her ideal. I believe I initially read the quote in a
magazine a few years ago, possibly before they were married.

Thanks for the question.

From a HUGE X-Files fan, here's the quote, from the June 15, 1998
People magazine (which itself is quoting a Vanity Fair interview):

"I didn't meet my ideal man," Leoni, formerly wed to a director of TV
commercials, told Vanity Fair. "I met better." For Duchovny, who as
one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors once dated Winona Ryder,
the feeling is mutual. "What's it like?" he says, musing on domestic
life. "Very sexy."

This is from a non-internet source, so there's no search strategy to
speak of.
