I own a mac and a pc. I downloaded a file for my "Poser"application.
The file format is .exe for pc, however I have "poser" installed on my
mac and do not have the pc version of "Poser". How do I extract the
contents of this file on my pc when I dont have the application that
uses them installed on the pc? I got stufffit expander for pc but I
just cant get the machine to extraxt the contents. I want to extract
the files on my pc and then transfer them to my mac to use with poser.
Is this possible? Sorry this is a bit unclear but I'm new to pc's.. |

Hi hannalo-ga,
In order to find a solution for your problem, we will require some
more information on your situation:
- What version of Poser are you using(3/4/5)?
- Do you know what kind of an exe file it is that you have? Is it
a setup application or a self extracting Windows archive?
- Which version of Poser is the .exe file for?
- What happens when you run the .exe file (by double clicking it)
on your Windows PC? If it were a self extracting archive, it would
prompt you for a folder to extract all the contained files to.
You cannot directly use the PC Poser files on your Mac. It will be
necessary to convert them to the relevant Mac Poser format. If you
can provide me with the requested information, I will post the steps
you need to follow to get this done.

The file is for Poser4 and/or 5. I have both versions. It was a zip
file when I downloaded it, so when I opened it , it turned into an
.exe file. On the pc it seems to be a self extracting file because it
asks me for a program, but unless I install poser for windows I dont
think any application on my machine will be able to extract it. I
think the only solution is to get poser for pc but if you have another
solution that would be great.

Hi hannalo-ga,
If the exe file is a self extracting file, then you should be able to
extract its contents by running it. Alternatively, you can use an
archive manager, such as WinRAR (http://www.rarsoft.com/) to extract
the contents. Simply start WinRAR, goto the File menu and select Open,
and select the exe file from the Open dialog. If the .exe file is a
self-extracting archive, WinRAR will show you its contents, and you
will be able to extract them. If on the other hand, the .exe file is
an application, WinRAR will display an error.
Please try this out, and post the results here.
