When I right click on a link in IE and open in a new window, the new window is always a small size. I find it really annoying to keep maximizing the window. How can I make the window open up in the default (large screen) size? I found an article through a Google search that I thought would help me, but when I tried the shift method, it didn't work for me. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,1206404,00.asp |

Almost always IE will open for me at the window size of the last window I closed, regardless of whether I held the shift key down. One problem is that if you have just killed a pop-up ad, it can remember the size of the ad. Otherwise, perhaps your browser home page, or one that you visit often, automatically resizes the window - or some plug in or browser add-on is the culprit? |

I can't understand that myself. I've had 3 PC's and I never had that problem; I would experience the same situation as yourself. I just bought this laptop a few days ago, and for some reason the $(#&#$&# thing doesn't listen!! There is no plug in or browser add-on (it's a brand-new computer) and my homepage is Google. I hope someone out there can help me because it's driving me nuts!! I do a lot of web-based research on my laptop, and I usually have 10 windows open at all times. It's really time-consuming and annoying to maximize every window. |

From my experience in the use of IE, when you maximize IE and close it later, when you open it again, it should be maximized, since that was the last state of its window size before closing. Let me ask, are you clicking on a shortcut icon to IE rather than the original icon of IE on the desktop to open the application (The original IE icon is the one, if you right-click and open the 'properties' selection, it opens the Internet Properties, instead of shortcut icon properties)? I suspect you are clicking on a shortcut set to open a non-maximized window. If so, you can change the setting of that shortcut to allow maximized size all the time. |

I was clicking on the original icon. Actually, when I first click it, it opens in a normal, full-size window. It's when I open secondary windows, such as by right-clicking on a link, that the small ones appear. Same goes for my e-mails in Outlook Express. I resize them, yet every time I open a new e-mail, it appears in a small window. It only happens on this new computer. |

Add Notepad to the list. It also keeps opening in ridiculously small windows. |

hello Let me tell you one way to overcome this issue. 1. Close all existing IE windows. Open a new IE Window, make sure it is in maximized state and then type in your favourite URL. Let the web page load fully. 2. Now click on the 'Restore Down' button (The one between minimize and maximize) of the window. It restores to a size in which your new windows open!. 3. Now resize the window buy 'pulling the window borders' and make it to a comfortable size. 4. Now try opening the links using 'open in new window' of the right click menu. It should open in the size you selected in the previous step. It worked for me. Curious to know your experience. Thanks |
