From the pictures, I see that the lock cylinder is about 5/8"
diameter, and that the lock falls into the category of 'drawer locks'
(due to the rear-mount flange and the #6 wood screws you displayed
next to the lock). I also see that the lock has a pin cam.

Some additional measurements that will help are:

- distance from "face" of lock to flange
- length of pin (measured from the tip all the way to the bottom of
the base of the cam
- distance between centres of mounting holes (appears 1-1/8" in
picture, but the perspective makes it hard to be sure)

Thanks,

Yah, the lock is for a file cabinet. I really like the cabinet, but I
can't find the key for it, so I would like to get a new lock if
possible.

- The diameter more about 9.5/16", but 5/8" would be close enough.
- The distance from the face to the flange is 13/16"
- The pin is about 1-1/2"
- The distance between the centers of the two holes is 1-1/8"

Thank you for the additional info! I'll let you know what I can find.

By the way, the 5/8" dimension is the 'correct' one to give if you end
up having to go to a local locksmith. That is the size of the hole
that the cylinder fits into, and is how such locks are measured for
the various lock manufacturers' catalogs.

werdup-ga:

I've gone through every single manufacturer's catalog I could find
through the Thomas Register website (Thomas Register is THE service,
both print and online, for manufacturers to register themselves in
whichever category of goods or service they provide, as TR is where
most designers and contractors go to find the parts sources for new
industrial and commercial applications).

There does not appear to be a current stocked-item part number for the
lock assembly you are seeking. That implies that it will very
difficult to find a retailer who in turn stocks this lock assembly so
that you can buy it online.

Your best option therefore is to go to a local locksmith shop (not a
hardware store, not a mobile locksmith). Bring along the lock, or
course, so that they can measure it up. They should then be able to
quote you three options:

1. Re-key the lock: from the pictures, I cannot tell if the lock can
be disassembled for re-keying; if it can, they can simply re-key it
for you, cut some new keys, and you're done.

2. Make a new key: any competent locksmith can figure out a simply
single-bit, 4-6 disc tumbler lock like this, and make a key that will
work. Whether it's worth the time and money to you is another matter,
but best to ask for the quote first.

3. Order in a new lock assembly: a similar lock can be created using
standard parts from various manufacturers. I was not able to find the
casing (that's the round shell with the mounting flange) in any of the
catalogs I looked at online, but I was able to find similar designs in
different sizes from Comp-X Chicago (that's the manufacturer's name);
there is a possibility that they, or another manufacturer, have the
5/8" size casing in an off-line catalog. The pin cam is available from
Comp-X Chicago in the 1-1/2" length size.

I am sorry that I was not able to find you an online store to supply
you with this lock. If you wish, you may leave this question posted
until it expires at the end of the month, in case another Researcher
has better luck. If you will accept the advice above as the Answer,
just let me know by replying to this Clarification Request, and I will
post it as the Answer.
