Far and away the best program that you can have (there are many out there) is Fractint, an open-source DOS program by the Stone Soup Group. The link: http://spanky.triumf.ca/www/fractint/fractint.html You're using Win 98, so you won't have any problems with DOS (NT, 2000 and XP all hate DOS apps with a passion). There's no GUI taking precious resources, and fractint isn't just a fractal generator, just about any mathematical formula that makes a pretty pattern is included. You can get straight into it, no complex setting up. But you can tinker to your hearts content if you feel like it. It even does plasma clouds and stereograms! Can you tell I like fractint? (oh yes and it is completely free) |
