In November, I signed up at Lifestyle Family Fitness, health club, in
Florida and at the time they where offering a 4 week comfort
guarantee. The guarantee allows me to get a full refund for whatever
reason within 4 weeks. When I went to collect my refund on the 28th
day, the manager flat out refused. He said there was a paper I was
supposed to sign in on every time, however my sales associate said I
would not have to do anything. However I did sign in on a different
piece of paper every time I went to the gym. I have tried to get my
money back by calling the corporate office, by writing a demand
letter, writing to local news stations and by filing a complaint with
the Better Business Bureau. Nothing has worked yet and it does not
make sense to go to small claims court since the cost of filing is
about half to 3/4 my judgment. I would like some ideas on other ways
I could get my money back or just get people to stop going
there..raise awareness that they are a shoddy club.

I'll bet your state Attorney General's office would be interested in
your story. I have gotten help with a similar problem.

ghalysport-ga,

Perhaps you should make regular, but polite and business-like, visits
to the club in which you ask to speak with the same manager, updating
the events of your "case." (Refer to it as a "case.") Inform him/her
who you're working with (i.e. Attorney General, BBB, "Help Me Howard,"
etc....). Go once a week and if you have to stand in line, state
loudly, "I'm here about the refund I haven't yet received...."

Hope this helps,

omniscientbeing-ga
