Question ID: 292392
I need current addresses of a business and of its retired
President/appraiser in order to replace a lost professional (jewelry
appraisal) document prepared in 1996-97. I need the current addresses
of Theodore D. Sulzer, Inc. and its retired President, Richard E.
Sulzer. From my search, I believe Richard E. Sulzer to be 71 years
old and may reside in the New York area and in Florida. From my
contact with the American Society of Appraisers, he did not renew his
membership. I did not check with the local Appraisal Institute
Metropolitan New York Chapter to see if any Sulzer or the Company were
active members. From my search, I believe Theodore D. Sulzer, Inc.
continues as an active business in New York and recently bought
advertising to support an art show in vicinity from and appeared in
American Artists Magazine. The New York State Department site
indicates this corporation as active with an address of 48 W. 48th, NY
10036 with phone 5184732492 and contact person as H. Sulzer. No one
at this 48th Street address has ever heard of Sulzer, and the phone
number is that of the New York State Dept. and not Sulzer; therefore,
this address is wrong. I have not checked with the New York Post
Office to see if there are any forwarding addresses on file for the
Company for either the 1270 Avenue of the Americas address or the 48 W
48th Street address. The cover letter to the 1996-97 appraisal,
which I have lost and need to replace, contains the following quoted
information as of 1996-1997 from top of page to bottom: Cable Address
THEOSUL New York. Theodore D. Sulzer, Inc. Jewelers and Appraisers.
Richard E. Sulzer, President. 1270 Avenue of the Americas.
Rockefeller Center. New York, N.Y. 10020. Telephone: 212 9564300. In
the matter of...City and County of New York, S.S.: Richard E. Sulzer,
being duly sworn, deposes and says: that he is President of THEODORE
D. SULZER, INC., Jewelers and Appraisers, with offices located at:
1270 Avenue of the Americas. City of New York. That he is thoroughly
familiar with the value of jewelry, having been actively engaged in
appraising property of such description in the City of New York and
vicinity for the past 38 years, and that he is thoroughly familiar
with the requirements of the federal and state regulations relating to
appraising...Sworn to before me this 23rd day of June 1997 Annette J.
Shandolow. Notary Public, State of New York. No. 31-4956915. Qualified
in New York County. Commission Expires 1/6/98. Signed Richard E.
Sulzer, A.S.A. Present. Senior Member of the American Society of
Appraisers. End of quoted material. Once again, I need current
addresses. Thank you. wend

What issue of American Artists Magazine (month and year) did the
article appear in? Was there a photo of Mr. Sulzer in there? In view
of the fact that there is not much documented evidence for this
business or whether "H. Sulzer" is a real person, you will need to
hire a private investigator to trace any history for these individuals
or write a letter to the Rockefeller Center address to see if they
have any further information. The addresses may have been valid but
it's hard to do research on them since these are business addresses
with many offices and a suite number or office number would be needed
to get specific information.

SINCERELY,
KEITH (I'm NOT a GOOGLE Researcher)

Thank you, Keith. Best wishes for a Happy New Year. I will try to
see if I can find the person who leases offices in Rockefeller Center
to see if I can get a current address for Theodore D. Sulzer, Inc., or
for its retired president, Richard E. Sulzer. While searching
"Theodore D. Sulzer, Inc.," I came across an entry that this
Corporation had purchased advertising for a local art exhibit from
American Artists' Magazine; I didn't record the date.
Thank you, again, for your interest. wend

Just some results from my research:

This page list a "Sulzer, Inc." at 400 Park Ave. in New York. I'm not
sure if this is your company.

A search of the American Society of Appraisers for "Sulzer" provided no results.

Interestingly enough this article mentions a Richard Sulzer who was
randomly interviewed. He is named as a businessman in New York, maybe
no connection but you never know:

Las Vegas-Based National Airlines Shuts; Fired Workers
 Walk Out on Passengers
Chris Jones. Knight Ridder Tribune Business News. Washington: Nov 7, 2002. pg. 1

Summary:

"Through September, National had carried 1.85 million passengers
through McCarran in
2002, making it the airport's fourth-largest carrier based on
passenger volume. The carrier
operated an average of 35 daily flights between Las Vegas and 11
other U.S. airports.

National spokesman Dik Shimizu said he did not know how many
passengers were affected
by the airline's announcement, but he said Wednesday is typically
one of the airline's slower
travel days when flights are normally 50 percent filled. Still, many
would-be passengers were
seen scrambling to locate their luggage and book alternative flights
out of town late
  Wednesday.

Richard Sulzer was one of the passengers inconvenienced. The New
Yorker had stopped in
Las Vegas to catch a connecting flight to Los Angeles for a business
trip. He wound up
pleading in vain with members of National's baggage crew who could
not locate his missing
  luggage."

Finally a search of "American Artist" listed no articles conatining the name Sulzer.

Thank you, Bowler. From my searches I discovered that a Sulzer is
connected to hip replacement medical device. Upon looking at the Web
address you gave me, I believe the Sulzer noted is connected to the
medical hip efforts of that particular Sulzer family. Thank you for
this web site address and the other for the American Appraisers for
jewelry, of which profession is another Sulzer family with whom I need
to make contact to replace lost professional appraisal; I also agree
that there is no Sulzer appraiser currently registered. Thanks,
again. Best wishes for a Happy New Year, wend

Thank you Bowler for quoting the article about Richard Sulzer. This
provides information that Richard Sulzer is in New York. Best wishes,
