I am looking for a table or reference, possibly published by the EPA
or State of California EPA, that lists the estimated strength for
various types of wastewater (sewer) customers.

I'd like data on residential customers (it should be about 175 mg/L
for both BOD and TSS), but I am most concerned with commercial
wastewater customers, which will vary greatly by industry. I'd like
them to be broken up into individual categories such as "restaurant",
"bakery", "bar", "office",
"car wash" or "hotel".

The data would be in terms of BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) and TSS
(total suspended solids).

Milkrate,
Since you mentioned California, are you looking for information only for this state?

Hello milkrate,

Interesting question. Have a look at this link and see if it meets your needs:

http://spo.nos.noaa.gov/projects/gomaine/tpc_matrix.html

It was compiled for an inventory study in the Gulf of Maine, but it
appears to represent national numbers (mostly from EPA sources) and
includes a listing for "Residentials"...i.e., wastewater from
residential sources.

If this isn't what you need, please clarify for the researchers here
what sort of information would better suit your purposes.

Thanks.

techtor,
No, not just California. National would be better.

I was told "the EPA" might have it and ventured that it might be
CalEPA or USEPA, since it is being used in CA.

pafalafa,
That's definitely on the right track, but it seems to be more product
manufacturing and industrial discharge. I am more interested in the
difference in wastewater composition between different types of
commercial retail establishments - buildings that you'd see in a
neighborhood.

If it helps, I'm looking for the data to assist in an analysis of
retail wastewater rates - the price of wastewater service varies by
the strength of waste the customer produces.
