Statistics question: I have a study with 300 patients. 150 received
magazines to read while waiting in the ER. 150 received nothing. All
300 filled out satisfaction surveys upon discharge. Using a Likert
scale from 1-10, each patient has a satisfaction score. What is the
best method to evaluate significance in difference between the
satisfaction scores in the two groups. All other variables are equal
including gender, race, length of wait. For example, 66% of the
patients were male in each group. As a result, I do not need to
perform a multiple linear regression as the only variable is whether
magazines were provided. I also do not know what the expected
satisfaction should be, so I believe this rules out chi squared.
Thanks in advance for your help.
