Question ID: 292865
Please can someone identify this piece of instrumental music? I have a
30-second sample of it as an MP3 file, downloadable from here :
http://www.samholloway.co.uk/anyideas.mp3

I have heard it used (here in the UK) on TV trailers, as
incidental/background music on TV and radio shows, and so on. I
believe it may have been a theme tune to an old TV or radio show (or a
segment within an old TV or radio show). I have tried the UK music
identification service Shazam, but with no success. I own many CDs of
similar music but have never been able to source this track.

The MP3 excerpt I have was captured from a TV programme several years
ago which used the theme as background music to a feature. (I wrote to
the producers of the programme but they were unable to help with my
request.)

I am looking for the artist and title of the track with some way of
verifying your answer.

Many thanks! Sam

Hi Sam,

Having listened to the track, it's very familiar to me (in New
Zealand) when the guitar starts to come in toward the end it seems to
diverge from what I'd expect.

It's possible that it's production music based on a familiar or well
known tune rather than the actual tune itself (this is pretty common).

TV producers are required to have quite strict details on the music
used in programmes for copyright purposes. This is normally in the
form of a cue sheet, listing track, artist and duration of any music
that's used in an item. So if you hear it again, the producers may be
able to help you if you get onto the quick enough, but it will largely
depend on how helpful they are feeling I imagine.
