Greetings, kotemaori!
Although nothing can be stated "for sure" and "for every single link"
about the Google searching and indexing algorithms because they are
secret and proprietary, there is one good way to pull up a list of a
*LOT* more sites that contain your URL than just those returned by a
Google "link to" search.
You didn't specify your URL, so I'll use an example.
If you enter a URL into the Google search text box and click "Google
Search", usually something like this comes up:
------------------------------------------------------
Showing web page information for expertlaw.com
ExpertLaw - Expert Witness, Private Investigator, Litigation ...
Bringing Experts and Attorneys Together. ExpertLaw Directory. ...
Description: Directory of expert witnesses, litigation support
services, and private investigators, also providing...
Category: Society > Law > Services
Google can show you the following information for this URL:
Show Google's cache of expertlaw.com
- Find web pages that are similar to expertlaw.com
- Find web pages that link to expertlaw.com
- Find web pages that contain the term "expertlaw.com" <<---
------------------------------------------------------
://www.google.com/search?q=expertlaw.com
As you're probably aware, clicking on "link to" in the
next-to-the-bottom line will provide the Search Results for a "link:"
command with the URL string you entered -- showing only those pages
with a high-enough ranking to be included (in this case, Google
returns "Results 1 - 10 of about 514").
But if you click on "contain the term" in the last line, you should
get a list of ALL the web pages Google has indexed that include the
URL string you entered (in this case, Google returns "Results 1 - 10
of about 5,150").
Note that to eliminate pages within the URL for which you are
searching, you need to add " -site: expertlaw.com " to the search
string:
"Results 1 - 10 of about 2,220"
However, sometimes links will include the "www." prefix, and sometimes
they don't. This is why I searched on only "expertlaw.com" instead of
"www.expertlaw.com" -- so that links which are written either way will
all be included.
I hope that this Answer provides exactly the information you were seeking!
Best wishes,

hi aceresearcher,i understand that and have obtained a large list of
sites containing my url,but i wouldn't consider many of them to be
valid links, many would not have any ranking, nor does this search give
a complete listing of links,i can see that many links from very high
ranked sites arent included
please note that my question asked"a search i can do that will reveal
every link, preferably showing the ranking of each link."i was thinking
there would be a tool,Arelis or similar,or a search engine offering
this facility.i need it do a links program, avoiding wasting time on
links that already exist
