I'm looking for an ultraviolet air purifier. I am leaning towards the
Calutech Blue at http://www.calutech.com/spec.htm but would like to
know if there are
drawbacks or dangers to having a UV air purifier in your home since it
creates radiation, or does it? Thanks.

I would not be concerned about the safety of this type of device; many
hospitals use UV air purifiers. Surely if there were any significant
health risks, a hospital would not want to expose its patients and
personnel to such dangers.

The device does indeed create radiation. But so do light bulbs or television sets.

Be careful as most uv air purifier emit some ozone, which the EPA has
deemed unsafe. The only uv air purifiers that I have found that
produce no ozone is the Second Wind Air Purifiers at
