Hello Raymond -
Glad to "talk" to you again - and I'm sorry you've had to wait for my response.
I'm afraid I've found nothing more than in the original link I gave you:
http://www.well.com/user/dpd/music.html
This points to the fictional piece I mentioned in my previous answer
when I said, "You might also like to know that she is mentioned in a
short story of 1861, "The Music Essence", where her voice is described
as a "wonderful honey of song "."
"The Music-Essence
by Fitz Hugh Ludlow
Written expressly for the Commercial Advertiser
New York Commercial Advertiser, December 31, 1861, Supplement"
This includes just a brief reference to Elena d'Angri:
"Oh with what joy did I thank God when I found that there were some
musicians whose music was not too harsh to give her pleasure! How I
exulted when that grand dear Formes brought tears of happiness to her
eyes in Bertramo--when D'Angri's wonderful honey of song distilled
through her ears into her heart and made her clasp my hand with a glad
thrill in Zerlima."
Since it was in a Supplement for the Commercial Advertiser, perhaps
this means it is not included in your printed pages.
So sorry you have been having a frustrating time with this. Good luck
with your research.
All best wishes for 2004 - Leli |
