I would like to know the type (breed) of puppy that Sharon Osbourne had on her show, the episode that aired two nights ago. One of the guests on that show was Courtney Cox (I don't know if the episode was a re-run or not). The dog - actually a puppy - was a gift to Sharon from her daugter's boyfriend. Sharon called the dog "Liz", the puppy was very tiny and white. | |

Researchers: (I didn't have the time to view/listen to the entire show, but maybe someone else can and get the information on puppy breed.) The show aired in November. The entire show's video is at this link: http://www.friendscafe.org/courteney-sharon-video.shtml "Instructions for how to play the files: This video file requires the Divx codec. The latest codec can be found at the divx.com site here: http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX511Bundle.exe You have to left click on the file from site 1, if you right click you'll only get an html file. So click thru the link. The file is protected with anit-leech software, so if you are behind a firewall you have to disable it to initially start the download because the software looks to see what site you are downloading from and a firewall hides that info. The file is zipped so you need one of the programs mentioned above. Then within the zip is the video file which is in .avi format. Typically you use Windows Media Player for those types of files, but this has been tested to work with RealOne Player and QuickTime. Be sure to have the absolute latest version of the player you choose to use. If you have any questions or comments about these video files, please goto our forum and the appropriate thread which is located HERE Enjoy the show! A few notes about some problems you may experience: If you're getting a "Do NOT steal links" message try the following: 1. If you're using a download manager, cancel it and download without it. 2. If for example you're trying to download with mozilla and it's not working (should work..) try using Internet Explorer. 3. If you right clicking the link, don't do it, only left click will work 4. If you're behind a firewall, you'll have to disable that first. If in the middle of the download you get a "connection with server has been reset" error, try again later, that happens when there's a lot of trafiifc. try downloading early in the morning, or late at night." From the photo, I'd say that this pup looks like a very young Jack Russell terrier mix. For comparison, here's a Jack Russell that is somewhat older: http://www.terrier.com/fun/poppic.php3?picname=/image/gallerynew/pic5280.jpg&h=286&w=300 |

My first inclination was to agree with pinkfreud's commment -- Jack Russell Terrier, the new hip breed of choice. But, a closer look leads me to think that it may be a chihuahua. That facial profile with the protruding forehead, is very chihuhaha-like. Generally chihuahuas have more erect ears, but pups sometimes have ears that flop a bit. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/calendars/Chihuahua.jpg I didn't download the video, but if you watch it and can see more of the puppy, take a look at the length of the dog in comparison to its height, and the lenght of its nose in relation to its head. Jack Russells tend to run "long" and have long noses. Chihuahuas tend to be more compact from front to back and have tiny petite snouts. Finally, the tail can be a giveaway too. The Jack Russell has a long tail that stands high if undocked, or is cut short if docked. The chihuahua's tail curls up and over its back. Here are some pictures to compare: JACK RUSSELL TERRIER http://images.google.com/images?q=jack+russell+terrier&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1 CHIHUAHUA http://images.google.com/images?q=chihuahua+&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=0&sa=N Of course it is conceivable that the puppy is a mix of the two. -K~ |

Hi Kate, I downloaded and watched the episode linked above. It aired on November 21, 2003. The puppy is absolutely darling. Nothing about the breed was mentioned. Here is a recap: November 24, 2003 - FASCINATING FACT: http://www.platinum-celebs.com/fascinating/news/2003_11_24.html ..."OSBOURNE has added another dog to her brood - a gift from daughter KELLY's new boyfriend. The rock matriarch has named the six-week-old puppy LIZ after DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR..." That's all that was said. I joined Kelly Osbourne's official website message board, only to find out she has never answered a single question posted there. There was a single thread where someone thought the dog was named Ruby. Sharon definitely said LIZ on the show. I also found this next link, ...again, calling a new puppy Ruby: Animal Network http://www.animalnetwork.com/anforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=24848 MTV's Osbourne site is fantastic, lots of great information, even a link called Ozzy's Zoo, but no Liz and no Ruby... The message board there was less than useful. MTV's - The Osbourne Family Web Site http://www.mtv.com/onair/osbournes/index.jhtml Sorry I wasn't of much assistance, ~~Cynthia |
