Dear a42-ga;
Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question.
To ?un-register? yourself, as you put it, you must have yourself
removed from voter registration roles. In some precincts all it takes
is a letter from you requesting to be removed from voter registration
lists and giving the state the authority to cancel your voter
registration. Here is a sample letter a person can use to request
removal from voter registration roles because they no longer live in
the precinct. You can simply modify this letter?s stated reason to
include a reason such as:
??because I no longer have an interest in voting in any upcoming elections?
??because I am never planning to vote again?
??.I can no longer vote because I have questioned democracy and found it wanting.?
??because my (political, moral, ethical, religious) beliefs no longer
permit me to vote.?
or whatever best applies to your situation?

Some voter registration offices even have a form for just such a
request that you to fill out if you come to the office in person to
rescind your voter registration. Here is one fellow?s story about how
it did it, and according to him it was surprisingly simple:

Apparently this isn?t a really big deal in terms of what is required.
In Delaware for example, the voter registration office simply says
this:
?You can request that your voter registration be canceled, if for any
reason you no longer wish to be registered.?

In Missouri there is a short form that is filled out in the presence
of a voter registration official:

Indiana has an online form that can be downloaded, filled out at your
leisure and taken or mailed to the voter registration office.

So, the bottom line is, it can in fact be done, but you?ll have to
find out what your local policy and how it applies to you and just do
it.
