At what depth can you drill using conventional horizontal drilling
technology rather than using a specialty slant rig (specifically in
terms of Canadian oil sands bitumen extraction)?

Hello Johnpaht,
Are you looking for the maximum possible depth a horizontal drilling
apparatus can reach?

Slant drilling is for applications that will not allow for the build
section required for horizontal drilling. I am curious as to what
depth is optimum for slant drilling rather than horizontal drilling,
but specifically in terms of Canadian oil sands drilling.

Thanks!

Dear johnpahl - thanks for submitting your question to our forum. Are
you seeking the maximum depth - or just some indication of the depth
horizontal drilling can reach?

Could you possibly share with us the names of a couple of
manufacturers of relevant equipment?

thanks,
ragingacademic
