Evidence to support (two sources) that the word "fecund" has been used
to substantiate the assertion that a man who can only produce
daughters may be refered to as -fecund-.

"Fecund" generally describes female fertility in the sense of females
who are fertile, rather than fertility that produces females.

Neither the Oxford English Dictionary (Unabridged) nor
Merriam-Webster's Third International Dictionary (Unabridged) lists
the meaning that you mention. Perhaps it is a regionalism. It might be
helpful if you could tell us when and where you encountered "fecund"
in this sense.

I am looking for a ref. that will support my assertion that the word
"Fecund" has been used in good literature to mean; "The sexual union
can only result in daughters." As in `The family were fecund` I`m sure
I`ve read it some where. Thank you. D.J.V.Stone

I have conceded defeat on this point. Mr Bennet`s family in J. Austins
"Pride and Predudice" had five daughters. I think the authors of the
day were mis-using the word out of ignorance of the science of the
time. Please take the money . I am happy that you have done your best.
D.J.V.Stone. Add $2.00 tip. Thank you.
