Hi yom,
A spouse who has been a permanent resident for 3 years, who is
currently married to a U.S. citizen, and has been married to the same
U.S. citizen for the past 3 years, may apply for citizenship.
?Question 3. I have been a U.S. citizen for the last 10 years. My wife
has been a permanent resident for the past year. Can my wife apply for
citizenship? If yes, under what rule can she apply?
A person who is a permanent resident and married to a citizen can
apply for citizenship after 3 years. It appears your wife would have
to wait 2 more years. Most permanent residents have to wait 5 years,
but the 3-year rule is a benefit for spouses of U.S. citizens.?

Tqualify for citizenship, you must:
??Be a permanent resident for not less than five years. (If a person
obtained permanent residence through marriage to a U.S. citizen, they
may be eligible for naturalization in three years if the couple has
been married for 3 years, if the spouse was a citizen during that
entire period, and if the couple are still living in marital unity)??

When can my spouse apply for citizenship?
?The law requires that a person who immigrates through marriage to a
United States citizen must wait three (3) years after the adjustment
of status is approved or immigrant visa is issued to apply for
naturalization as a citizen. How long before an interview and a final
oath taking ceremony are scheduled depends on where you reside at the
time you file the application for citizenship.?
