I replaced my PC which had windows 98 with a new one that has windows xp. the dealer put my old files in folders on my c drive. I have tried without success to move turbo tax and spyware back to my desktop. All I can do is copy the folders on my desktop. When I try to run the contents all that happens is that I get a promt that says that the files cannot be opened . Does anyone know how I gan get my turbo tax and spyware back to my desktop so that they funtion like they did when I had my old PC with windows 98? | |

Any applications such as Turbotax, etc... are not portable but their files are. In other words, you will need to reinstall all of your programs onto your new computer. However, the files that were backed up onto your new computer can be opened. For example, say you typed a document using Microsoft Word on your old computer. If you do not reinstall Word on the new computer, you will not be able to open that file. Once you reinstall Word, then you will have access to your files. So, reinstall all of your programs and you should be all set. |
