Hello, sageworskinc:
Ok, I get the idea, maybe, before start customizing the behaviour of
the site, you want to change the "Look" of the site, that is, design a
new theme, do you have any ideas, or a mockup so I start working on
it?
Regarding to add banners, enter here:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/admin.php
Log in as administrator and then access the Banners module:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/admin.php?module=NS-Banners&op=main
First, you have to add a new client, I have added one for you:
-The client name is "test", and so the username and password
Next, a new block called "add new banner" is shown, here you can
choose the customer you want to add the banner, in this case is test,
next, add how many impressions do you want, 0 for unlimited, forget
the ID type field, and enter the URL where the image for the banner
is, for example:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/themes/PostNukeSilver/images/samplebanner.gif
And now, add the url to go when the users click the banner, for example:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke
Click the add banner and you are done, the banner is now on rotation.
To allow you add your pages easily I have installed a new Postnuke
module called PagEd, now you have a new option on the admin panel:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/admin.php?module=PagEd&op=main
This module has a lot of options, so I describe here what you need
to do to add a new page to your site:
-Select the Create New Page option
-Select the Template "Global Template"
-Click "Use, procede to add content" button
-Fill out that form, your HTML code must be entered on the "Text" box
-Click the "Save and End" button at the bottom
-Now click on the "Page Manager" and you will see a list of the
current active pages
-Take note of the Page ID
To show your page, you just need to enter this URL:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=PagEd&file=index&page_id=2
Being page_id the ID of the page you want to see.
You can add a link to the page you have just created on the Main
Menu block on the left, by editing that block here:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/index.php?module=Blocks&type=admin&func=modify&bid=1
At the bottom there is a "new row" you can Fill with a Title, an URL
and an optional description.
I know all this it can be very difficult to you because is the first
time, so please, if you find any problem, just request for my help,
don't hesitate to ask.
Regards.

Hello, sageworksinc:
Ok, I start right now to design the mockup for you. Regarding login
as admin, use "Admin" as user and "Password" as password, both are
CASE SENSITIVE. Once you log you will be able to add banners.
Regarding login as test user, this account is not for "adding banners"
is intended for you to give to your customers so they can see their
stats and change the URL where their banners point.

Hello, sageworksinc:
Ok, I will make the blue a bit lighter, when the design is finished
it will better, this is only a mockup. Regarding flash I don't use it
on my sites, I will see if I have something already made (from a
template) I can use.
It would be great if you tell me exactly the purpose of the site, that
is, I know is for a community, but I don't know for what, nor I know
the name of the site.
Regarding the list of postnuke modules, there is no single repository
for them, most of them are located here:
http://mods.postnuke.com
Here is the download area where you can get information about each one:
http://mods.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index
I will try to post something today about the website design.

ok,kool.
the site is supposed to be named campus vibes.
Its supposed to be built and manned by sage works inc.
campus vibes is going to ba oa online portal for campuses round ghana and africa.
it is a private pet project.
so it is centered on africa.
over there they really dont know much about using online communities.
so the 1st idea is initiate the idea.
which they must have fun on the site.
secondly they should have interactivity, which would not only acafemic

that is why the registration process is that complex.

cool, but the boxes at the site can we make them more so that there can be
1.opinion polls
2.competitions like "face of the week","best enterpreneur".
like the face of the week voters can click a kind of slideshow where
it shows each contestants with details about the person and a message
from the contestant, the they can vote for the one they want, then after
a period admin chooses the contest ends and winner emerges ,this idea
is for diverse contest.
BUT UR DESIGNS ARE SUPERB ,THANKS.

Hello, sageworksinc:
Sorry for being late, it took me more time than I expected, the design
is almost integrated here:
http://www.qadram.com/nuke/index.php
Still need to do some work until the theme is fully usable. I have
placed the banners on the top, is that ok for you?
The differences:
-A theme is a nuke extension that allows your site to look in
different ways, like the one I have designed
-A module is a piece of code that adds functionality to your site,
like the PagEd module I integrated
-A block is a box in the left or in the right that shows info to your users
Regarding integrate modules, I think it's too early, I think first we
should define how the site looks, and then, how it behaves.
And finally, regarding hosting, it has all the features you need to
run a postnuke, althought I don't have tested it, you can try them.
I keep working on the site...

i was thinking that rather that the complex registration method we
should adopt this.
anybody can register on the site, automatically the user name, pass e.tc
is sent to the box.
The the acc is active, but this user will not be able to access most
important things in the site.
So ther would be the option to upgrade, where they would purchase the

Hello, sageworksinc:
I have finally finished the theme and it works ok in all pages, I
have also finished the left menu so it works as it should, I have
reagruped blocks and I have changed the copyright. So now it's time to
move further to add new features to the site.
Here is a list of things I have gathered reading your posts, please,
tell me what do you think and what do you want to do first:
*Information arrangement as in:
http://www.thebix.com/Article479.phtml
That is two columns, as also is in faceoffstac.net
*Change Postnuke default icons to crystal ones:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?file=2539-2.jpg&name=Crystal+GT
*Change the name of the site to "faceofdelsu"
*Allow register to everyone, but add an option to upgrade an account
by buying tickets, to have full access to the site
And regarding visual aspect:
-Do you like the theme I designed for the site? I supose you will want
more eye-candy, but I think is more important to finish how the site
behaves instead loosing time adding eye-candy, if you like this theme
as a base, then we can go further, if not, just tell me what more do
you want.

28 Jan 2004 02:02 PST
ok,
i have some explanations to do.
ok.
1.I decded to change it from campus vibes to faceofdelsu,we can change that later.
2.the method of registrstion s givin me a lot of headache
u know this is for africa, most young people dont have access to credit
cards to pay to subscribe,so i earlier told u that i wanted the site
to be totally inaccesible to guest, only registerd.and that thgey could
register on the ste but that they could only activate their acc by
buying a registration code from physcal agents,i also sad that there
should be something on the site that would generate those codes so t
can be printed out then sold to people to actvate their acc.
But i thought that at least a guest browser should at least be able to
use the site a bit ,so they can appreciate what they are gong to
subscribe for, then if they choose to register they cqan pick user
levels, and then they buy the ticket for the user level they pick.
all level accs must expire after 2mnths or at the time set by the admin.
each level would have access restrictions except for the highest level.{3}
this is my idea, but do u have any idea how we could make the
regstration easier in a condition of not credit card payment?
3.as per tehbix.com,u are not really gettiung my picture.
1st of all look at the tabs, then the general arrangment is very
flawless,i think is the css, also on faceoffestac.net{which is also a
afrcan site} the arrangment is very flawless, am sure u cn see what i
see.
my reason for all this is to make the site very appealing to the eye.
My targeted audince are people who were just introduced to the nternet
2 years ago,it must very good t appeal to them.
As per the theme.it cool,it just too basic.
pls after this we should go on to how the site works, and the features.

Ok, so let's go with subscriptions to your site, this is what I think you want:
-You want to allow anyone to subscribe
-Normal subscribers will only be allowed to access certain features
-If they want to access the full site, they will need to by some code
-Once they enter the code, their account will be upgraded
-You need something to generate the code
If this is what you want, I need you to answer a couple of things:
-What kind of code are you looking for to generate? Numeric?
Alphanumeric? With some meaning?
-What parts of the site cannot be accessed by normal subscribers?

Hello, sageworksinc:
The idea about buying codes in stores is very nice, indeed I like it
very much, so we can do the following:
-I'm going to allow you generate codes in the administration section of the site
-The codes will be randomly generated and stored in a database
-There will be codes for each type of account
-Codes will be unique
-You will be able to generate automatically a number of codes (i.e.
1000), then you will be able to mark those codes are "sent to stores"
-Once a code is used, it won't be able to reused
What do you think?

Hello, sageworksinc:
As I told you, here is something to see on Sunday (here is 14:21 GMT+1) ;-)
I have finished the code generator, to access it, enter the site as
administrator and enter on the administration panel, there is a new
module called Key Generator, enter and here is how it works:
You have three zones:
-Generation form:
Choose how many codes you want to generate and the type of that code,
press generate and the new codes will be stored on the database
-Filter form:
You can filter by type of code and status
-Codes list:
Each code have an ID and two status vars called Distributed and Used,
the first is intended for you, to manage which codes you have
distribute to shops, the second one will be set to 1 when that code
has been used by an user to upgrade his/her account
Of course, a code won't work if it has not been distributed.
Please, tell me what do you think and if it's all OK, I will design
groups and I will make the upgrade account feature work.
Regards.

let me ask u a question?
what other features{modules} do u think can be in a community site
that will attract people?

Hello, sageworks:
Codes cannot be generated, because there is no rule that generates
them, are random codes stored on a database. It's like lottery, an
user would need to guess a code and I will add some kind of brute
force prevention on the upgrade script.
What do you mean by trace an account to a code? Please, explain more on this.
Now I start with access levels.
And regarding your question, well, the most important feature of a
community is a forum, once we setup the site, we can start adding more
features as you need them.
Regards.

Hello, sageworksinc:
I have finished the upgrade account feature, you can test it
following these steps:
-Register in the site with a new account
-Access your account page
-There is now a new block called Upgrade your account
-It requests a code
-If you enter any code is not in the database, you will be rejected back
-If you enter a code is in the database and it has been distributed
and it has not been used, then you will get your account upgrade
When a code is used, is marked as used and cannot be reused. To know
what codes you can use to test it, access the admin panel as I
explained in previous clarifications.
Please, tell me if this is what you want and we can go forward to set
permissions on the site.
Regards.
