I read about this incident recently, too.  Not only did the Russians
accidentally sink a number of British fishing vessels, but blatantly
failed to stop and help recover any survivors still floating in the
water.
 Well, they got their just desserts: a thorough pasting at the hands
of the efficient Japanese Navy.
 
 Movie spoiler alert:

 I always loved the scene at the end of "The Enemy Below" when the
victorious captain of the American destroyer fishes out the captain of
the u-boat he spent the whole film pursuing.  Priceless...
