Now that a cow raised in Canada made it into the U.S., American
officials have banned much of Canadian beef imports. But it's not the
first ban.

I'm looking for a list of at least four other things that either side
has banned (trade-wise) -- the goofier and wackier, the better. Has
Canada ever banned mint sprigs? Has the U.S. restricted the flow of
cotton candy? That kind of thing. A little bit (3-5 sentences) of the
history behind the ban would be great too.

< Canadian Products Banned at the US Border.

Hemp products.

Hemp products are banned including ? bird seed, horse bedding, oil,
animal feed , granola, ice cream, burgers, cheese, chips and chocolate
bars.

In 1999, U.S. Customs agents impounded a shipment of hemp birdseed
belonging to Canadian Company Kenex. Health food producers sell a
range of hemp products including granola, ice cream, burgers, cheese,
chips and chocolate bars. The dispute arose because the Drug
Enforcement Agency considers any foods containing the tiniest amounts
of THC the psychoactive chemical in marijuana controlled substances.
Although Hemp seeds do not contain THC they often pick up the chemical
by coming into contact with the leaves and stems of the plant.
Enormous quantities of these products would need to be consumed to get
a buzz. THC levels are low at around 0.02% whereas marajuana contains
levels of 4-10%.

Hi jhabley,

Farley Mowat, Canadian author and naturalist, is the most loveable
item to have been refused entry to the US.
