hello researchers,

I read with interest recently the question about socks:
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=292939

the researcher did an admirable job in locating tons of information
but despite clicking on all those links, granny didn't find what she
was looking for.

they used to make 'slouch' socks back in the 80s where if you put the
socks in the dryer they didn't shrink to cut off the blood flow to
your brain. Wal-Mart carried socks with a slouch top, arch support
band around the instep, and a heavily cushioned bottom but I haven't
found them since. they may've been the First Fit brand according to
this website but I don't know for sure.

the closest I've found look like these Thorlos but that top had a much
looser (open) weave on the top.
http://goldmanbros.com/thorlo/thorlo-slouch-socks.asp

so to recap, I need:

* slouch top

* arch support band

* cushioned bottom

* preferably cotton (wool?)

* available for online ordering

* solid color

* warm and comfortable

I've tried the SmartWool socks which are very comfortable but the tops
shrink when you dry them, but if you find a slouch top that would be
great. please don't tell me not to dry them cause I'll always forget.

these socks look very comfy also but don't quite fit the above
requirements.

these sock also look delicious but that band frightens and constricts
me.

*PLEASE* won't you help granny on her magical sock quest. I've tried
search words 'slouch' 'acupressure' 'arch support band' 'made in
Norway' 'hunting' and 'hiking' + socks. hopefully adding some
additional brainpower, you'll come up with more sock options for
granny. obviously this question is *only* for the sock obsessed since
you will be able to relate to my dilemma. hopefully I've given you
enough examples of socks I'm looking for, but if not feel free to run
something by me. I'm terribly sorry to be so picky, but I just *am*
when it comes to shopping which is why I hate it so.

thank you most kindly for your help!

I hear that the socks on these sites are the "best" and most
comforable.  Hope this helps:

thank for your interest, hrpers! it looks like those Thorlos are my
best bet. I did send off for those David Morgan's the other day.
hope they work out. I'll keep this question open just in case a
researcher or commenter finds something that might incorporate the
Thorlos sockedness qualities but have a bit more padding on the
bottom.
