Yes, it was excellent advice for you to have been advised to provide the rest of the e-mail name (whatever comes after the @ sign), if you know what it is. But you should also be talking directly first to the police and then to the bank and not just wait for the results of your own investigation. YOU don't necessarily have to find out the identities of these people, but most police departments have a computer expert on staff to help people with similar situations as yours where it can be proven that a crime has been committed, and that expert can work with the bank to get your case solved.
