Thankyou for taking the time to look at my questions. Through completing my own research I have found information to a disease called (platelet) Storage Pool Disorder, otherwise known as SPD. In the medical research I have looked at, the testing models were usually Fawn-Hooded rats, occasionally crossed with Wistar or Norwegian Rats. Firstly I was wondering if there is any pages that explain this disorder in laymans terms. (medical pages can be a little confusing!) I am assuming this disorder, after being referred to as a bleeder, means that the clotting ability of the subject is slim. Secondly, I am wondering if there is a specific test (other than blood flow Answer all three questions (even just post a link or two!)monitoring after a cut in the skin) similar a blood test like they have for von Willebrands Disease. Links: This site has the most relevant information that I can find: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov Detection of SPD through timing blood flow http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=7833250&dopt=Abstract This has a lot of information about many bleeding disorders - especially in animals http://www.med.unc.edu/wrkunits/3ctrpgm/thromb/sponher.htm | |
