Hi krazyk,

As a result of my research, I have ascertained that online gambling,
including poker, in India is illegal.

Online gambling in India is considered to be a form of cyber crime.
The article below elaborates further on the issue:

NAAVI: CYBER CRIME by Parthasarathi Pati

The following are excerpts which confirm online gambling in India is illegal.

?Editor's Note:
This case shows that the US government intends to stop any company who
facilitates illegal gambling transactions. In India we have a law that
bans all gambling transactions, yet Internet users in India are easily
able to make such transactions and pay for them using their credit
cards. Credit card companies also do not ensure that the payments made
through their service are all within the framework of Indian laws.
Recently, students of the Asian School of Cyber Laws had file a Public
Interest Litigation seeking to bar online gambling websites, however,
their efforts are still to see the light of day.?

??The Indian legislature prohibits gambling on the Internet though,
unlike the American Internet Gambling Prohibition Act (Kyl's Bill), it
has yet to formulate a specific proposal dealing with an industry
expected to grow to $6.4 billion by 2003. Nonetheless, the legal
faculty feels that provisions among existing laws are enough to curb
it in this country.?

An interesting article to read in its entirety:

?There has been a change in trend this Divali. Gambling, an illegal
activity in India, is going off the course. Agreed this festive
season, a majority of persons are gambling offline in close
coordinated groups, yet in what could be called a trend indicator, a
number of them are preferring cyber cafes to try their hands at
Nambling, a sobriquet for Net gambling. And the law of the land has
been kicked in the hind. Both offline as well as online??

There is no legislation that outlaws gambling in India. Casino style
gambling is a component of tourism program of the Goa government.
There are also new online gambling websites such as:

CasinoNepalOnline.com

RWITConline.com

CasinoNepalSportsbook.com

all pointed at Indian Ocean populations.
