question for serenata.ga
i am paying close attention to the meta tagging of
www.ozpeopletrace.com.au. please advise with regard to search
engines,
1)will the people and trace parts of my title be viewed as two words
or one,ie,can i use the people part of ozpeopletrace as part of a
keyword, people search australia, will the australia part of my title
(OZpeopletrace australia) be recognised as part of this keyword if it
is in the brackets and out of the correct order.i am looking at
writing a title of 60 characters or thereabouts, can i use the most
important keywords in any order, does the title tag have to be
descriptive of my site, can i leave out punctuation marks, the words i
need to include are people search australia, people finder
australia,australian people search,find people in australia,find
person australia.are the name of my site in brackets
ie(OZpeopletrace.Australia)included in the count of 60 characters
,which seems to be the advised limit
2)i have far too many keywords, as in i have australia 17 times, people
15 times,i opted to use the actual search term as a keyword,ie people
search australia, people finder australia, and this has been successful
every where except google and one or two others,i think im being
penalised for too many australia, too many people etc.now i intend to
list every keyword as a seperate word, and include the 5
terms(phrases)that get 82% of impressions for me.please advise on the
use or ommision of commas, and the best way to write the phrases to
suit most search engines.using phrases has worked most places except
google,so i figure if i cut down the number i may not be penalised
there
3)description tag,do i write a tag to entice clicks or search
engines.if i can use only 150 characters my thinking is to load it up
with keywords, does it need to be grammatically correct for those
search engines which state that this is required
i only require a short answer for most of my questions,i dont need you
to spell things out in detail

Hello again kotemaori ~

It is nice to see you again and thank you for asking for me to answer
your question.

Perhaps you'd prefer that since he has already established a dialog
with you, he answer the question.

Please accept my apologies for the oversight. I am sure he must have
overlooked your asking for me to answer the question, as I cannot
imagine any Google Answers Researcher disregarding a customer's
request by posting an answer or comment until the Researcher you
requested had an opportunity to respond.

Thank you again for asking for me.

Happy New Year to you,

Don't worry too much about meta keywords, they are all but ignored by
search engines.

Write the description to attract customers. It can show up in search
result snippets, and sites (esp. directories) often use it when
linking to a site.

Title tags are the most important part of optimizing a page.

In my experience, the closer a title tag fits a search query, the
higher it ranks, so if someone searched for [australia people search],
the first of the following title tags would rank much higher, all
other things being equal:

people search australia

people search australia, people finder australia, australian people
search, find people in australia, find person australia

More than two instances of a keyword in a title can be seen as
spamming, and people are wising up to keyword filled titles being more
likely to spammy results. Your site needs to appear to have
credibility from every angle.

Your best option is to optimize each page of your site for a different
keyphrase, rather than all of them for your homepage.

Using characters like [ and >> in the title looks nice, but search
engines might count them as words, and therefore make your title less
of a match to a search query.

Make sure that targeted keyphrases also appear once or twice in the
text of the page.

And about the word ozpeopletrace - look at what is in bold in the
search result, and look at the cached copy of the page to see what
Google has recognised:

thanks robert,i have noticed that your site is well positioned.i
intend to write title tags for each page to give it a better ranking,i
was intending to look closely at the keywords ive written into each
page with much sweat and cursing to get it right, and pick pages to
suit search terms

I have actually been quite lazy when it comes to optimizing my sites.
The ones that do best have done so because I have put effort into
content, and people have chosen to link to it. Links from high quality
sites and some simple SEO gives much better results than links from a
few low quality sites and complex SEO.

The site you are probably referring to has 285 links to it that are
PR4 or higher. According to AlltheWeb 7,427 links in total. Once you
get that many links, you can put any not-terribly-popular keyphrase in
a page title and rank well for it, such as madonna sex book.

Hi Again, Kotemaori~

Since another Google Answers Researcher has already given you his
answer (even if it is in the form of a comment), it really wouldn't be
ethical for me to step in at this point, and I must decline since he
has already begun an answer to your question.

Thank you, though, for thinking of me, and continued succes to you.
