Hello pjmulberry~

Charles V of France built two large castles to help fortify his
country: and Place de la Bastille and Valladolid.

The Valladolid was "the huge palace built by Charles V., an ancient
house, but in perfect preservation and comfortably furnished." ("The
Memoirs of Baron de Marbot - Volume II "
http://www.napoleonic-literature.com/Book_3/V2C8.html )

The Bastille was "originally built by Charles V to augment the city's
defenses the fortress was converted in to a prison by Richelieu to
house such prominent inmates as Voltaire and the Marquis de Sade."
("Place de la Bastille,"
http://www.web-hotels.com/WebHotels/paris/Place_de_la_Bastille.html )

In addition, Charles V remodeled many old buildings for several
purposes. For example, he made the Louvre his palace (
http://www.louvre.fr/anglais/collec/sculp/rf1377/txt1377.htm ), as
well as remodeled The Bois de Vincennes (

)

Best wishes,

As far as I can tell, he just built one, the Bastille, and some walls.

"...to protect Paris from the English, Charles V rebuilt the Left Bank
wall and built a new wall on the Right Bank that extended to a new
fortification called the Bastille."
