I am trying to locate a poem that I read years ago that deals with why the writer did not like/enjoy poetry. Or perhaps it dealt with the only kind of poetry that the writer liked. I am almost sure that the writer was Carl Sandburg. I seem to recall that it was sort of a spoof piece of poetry. The poem was fairly long too as I recall- like 30 or 40 lines as opposed to 5-10 lines. I know it seems strange, but I also seem to recall that it made mention of a train or locomotive in it somehow. I would like to at least know the title of that poem. A url pointing to the poem itself would be great! A book title that contains the poem would be acceptable in lieu of the url. |

This isn't Sandburg, but it is a humorous poem that is critical of poetic metaphors: http://plagiarist.com/poetry/?wid=534 |
