Hello pjmulberry,

As of the results reported through 7 January 2004 on the official site
of the Premiership sponsor, it appears that three goals have been
scored in the first minute of play in matches in the 2003-04 season.

The fastest goal was 19 seconds by Andy Cole of Blackburn Rovers
against Chelsea on 30 August 2003.

The second fastest goal was 37 seconds by Louis Saha for Fulham
against Birmingham City on 14 September 2003.

(Third fastest was a goal at 42 seconds by Hermann Hreidarsson for
Charlton Athletic against Chelsea on 26 December 2003.)

In short, the answer to your question to this point in the 2003-04
season is Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.

A search of the fixtures for the Nationwide League shows that the
first match of the season was Preston v. West Ham on 9 Aug 2003 at
12:30 pm.

The first two goals were scored by Eddie Lewis for Preston in the
second minute and Jermain Defoe for West Ham in the fifth minute.

I found the following, let me know if it answers your question:

Newcastle Utd 2, Manchester City 0 Jan 19 2003:
9 seconds took Alan Shearer to score against Manchester City in the
2-0 win for Newcastle at St James' Park - the fastest goal of the
season.
