Although I'm Canadian, your question caught my eye because I've been
to a few of these colourfully named cities (as we say here) 'across
the pond.'
I'm listing them alphabetically by city per state. Some states seem to
be more prone to quirkiness than others -- Texas is a good example.
I've not listed each and every city and town, but you'll find complete
lists should you need more, from the URLs I've listed as sources.
As for the territories and commonwealths -- these are not so
well-defined since the numbers of cities are far fewer that that of
states, and you must take into consideration the fact that the mother
languages of these places are definitely not English. While WE might
find Pago Pago an 'odd' name, it's most likely it makes perfect sense
to a native of Samoa.
As I compiled the lists you're about to see, I confess to much
giggling, head shaking, and puzzlement. WHY would town-fathers decide
on some of these names?!
