I would like to delete all the data and files from an older computer
and reinstall Windows 98. My kids have been using this computer and
downloaded all types of games etc. I'd like to start with a clean
slate. I also don't have the start up disk for Windows 98 which came
with the computer. How do I go about doing this.

Hi trayduh!!

I hope that the following info resulted from my research will be useful to you.

First of all the things that you will need:

·Windows 98 CD

·Product Key code: it is usually on the Windows 98/98SE Manual or in
the CD case. If you cannot find it you will need to find the product
key. You can do it with The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, a freeware
utility that retrieves your Product Key (cd key). just Unzip it and
run keyfinder.exe:
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/downloads/kf141.zip

·Boot floppy w/ CD-ROM support!
You can do it following this instructions:
-Click Start
-Point to Settings and click Control Panel
-Click Add/Remove Programs
-Click the Startup Disk tab
-Click the Create Disk button and follow thr instructions.
-When finished, click OK to exit the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.
You can also download one by clicking this link (just unzip it to a
new or empty floppy disk):

·If you are going to use an UPGRADE CD, you will need a Windows 3.1
setup disk or Windows 9x installation CD for the compliance check.

My brother and sister loaded my computer with a bunch of junk...so I
got the discs that my computer came with. They'll say "System
Recovery" on them. What you do is when your computer is booting up,
insert disc one. It will ask you if you want to wipe your entire hard
drive. If you do this, your computer will be restored to the way it
was when you bought it, hopes this helps!
