Sometimes when I open a .doc file in MS Word 2000 and click on a word,
the arrow cursor creates an insertion point, but does not change into
an insertion point itself. It remains an arrow, and so I cannot select
text. Also, at that time, If I attempt a search via cntl-F, the search
window appears, but it is minimized! I have done a "repair" via the
Help menu in Word, but that didn't help. How can I fix this?

Hi gojohns,

Consider doing an uninstall/install of Word - unfortunately, simply
uninstalling Word doesn't get rid of everything and therefore you
should use Microsoft's Eraser:
