Question ID: 295415
Am posting on beahlf of a friend, who is considering a move to Bend, Oregon:

She asks for information on private, non-secular elementary and middle
schools in the Bend, Oregon area. Meaning within a 5-mile radius.
She is aware of the Cascades Academy and has looked at their website,
so don't repeat that info. But it's a brand new school and she wants
more indepth information about it- beyond the basic facts that are
listed. Find out more about school's reputation, philosophy,
curriculum. She has heard that it is an off-shoot of Sunriver
Academy, in Central Ore., which no longer exists. Try to find out
more.

In addition to Cascades, are there any other private, NON SECULAR
schools in the Bend area.

Regarding PUBLIC schools, please find out about the elementary and
middle schools in the area called WEST BEND.

On the medical front:
Her 7-year-old son has been diagnosed and is being treated for
PLAGIOCEPHALY, a deformity of the skull. He sees a pediatric
osteopath at the Osteopathic Center for Children in San Diego. She
WILL consult with him about Oregon doctors, but he's out of the
country and she needs info before his return, as she's leaving to
check out Bend in the next few weeks.

Not intersted in a dialogue regarding the pros or cons of DO'S
(doctors of osteopathy.) What she wants is a list and as much info as
you can find on pediatric DO's in the Bend area.
So far she has found the Central Oregon Pediatric Association in Bend
(she hasn't checked to see if they have a website yet, so you can)--
and she has no names of specific doctors there.
The other is High Lake -- a facility in Bend. Again, all she has is the name.
Please research these two , as well as any other pediatric DO's you
can find in the area.

For schools, she wants a 5-mile radius, but for medical care, she'd be
willing to go further, as Bend is near Redmond, Oregon, about 15 miles
away. Perhaps there are Redmond medical personnel.

And finally, as part of her son's care, he also needs a PEDIATRIC
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, hopefully one that specializes in vision
therapy and fine motor skills development. But she realizes that that
much breakdown might not show up online. The important thing is that
the OT works specifically with children.

At minimum, Names, addresses and phone numbers, please.

Leader --

This is definitely a lot of good info. But did you use enough variety
in your search terms? It feels as if you did some literal searching,
but not enough imaginative phrasing in HOW you searched.

Example: I just did a few on my own: I typed "pediatric osteopath"
and "how to find." I also searched under "Plagiocephaly," which the
kid is being treated for. And I also tried word variations like
"osteopath" instead of "osteopathy."

These led to "cranialsacral therapy" resources, the American
Osteopathic Association, Upledger Institute - doctor referrals, Users
Groups --important leads that ought to have been in your answer. It
doesn't appear that you searched via Plagiocephaly at all.

At this point, between all the stuff you've found and what I
unearthed, my friend says she has plenty of info to digest. She isn't
asking you to do any more work. So, I think we can close this
question out. But before I do, I want to give you a chance to read
this. HOpe it makes sense.

Clarification of Answer by leader-ga on 12 Jan 2004 21:26 PST
Thank you for the clarification and a kind advice. Actually, I didn't
include all the terms that I used because there were so many of them.
What I really tried here is to provide you the basic information on
the data you seek. As I am not aware of the complete scenario, I
abstained from doing research based on my judgement alone. I wasn't
aware of Plagiocephaly treatment. Furthermore, it is always the
consumer who knows best what they are looking for.

On the other hand, I really want to thank you becasue it is seldom
that we get a response from a customer telling us how we may improve.

I am glad that your friend has the information that she requires and
if needed, I am willing to serve your casue.

Sincerely,
leader-ga.

Hi, Leader. Yeah, I wasn't aware of Plagiocephaly either --I'd never
even heard of it. But it seemed like a key search term, since she
stated that the kid is being treated for it with osteopathy and
occupational therapy -- which is why I thought you'd check to see if
there were links to doctors that way. But you're right, nobody can
be a mind reader on these things.
Let me check back one last time with my friend to see if there's
anything else she needs and if not, will close this out. Thanks
again.
