There may be no single correct answer to this question. One correct
answer is "Rainbowman," a Japanese series that consisted of 52
episodes that were broadcast from October 6, 1972 to September 28,
1973.

Our hero "was an undisciplined wrestler who didn't care how he won a
match. After being kicked off the team, for being too violent, he goes
to India looking for Daibadatta, a former wrestling champion who had
become a hermit.
He finds Daibadatta who not only teaches him discipline but gives him
the magical power to transform into the Warrior Of Love."

These magical powers included, among other things, the ability to
"deflate himself," "cause a thunderstorm," "spray fire out of his
fingers" and breathe underwater."

I am posting this as a comment, as there is no way for me to tell if
this is the "correct" answer you are looking for. If it is, please
post a comment to that effect, and I will post this information as an
answer, along with my search strategy.

Consdidering that a typical US tv series runs for 26 episodes, that
equals two seasons. Multiple answers are highly likely.

Maybe the answer lies within this search:

Voltron ran for about 52 episodes I think, his powers came from the
formation of five vehicles.
