Considering using this as a product name. want to make sure it
doesn't have a vulgar, tasteless or odd meaning in a foreign language.
Was already aware Vatavi is a location in the Solomon Islands. Is
vatavi a derivative of a Tamil word batava?

Thanks!

I made up this word then found it was a location in Solomon Islands.
Again, want to make sure it's not vulgar, profane, etc in another
language.

Thanks again.

Otherwise possibly a personal name?

The word also appears in a recipe on a website in an Indian or Asian language.

Hopefully someone else will be able to give you the translation.

You're going about this just right.

Many years ago, an oil company spent $10,000 (when that was real money)
to research a new name that meant nothing in any language. They came
up with

EXXON

And you're quite right to take these precautions. Unlike the GM folks
who didn't bother to do their homework and couldn't figure out why one
of their most popular American cars just couldn't be sold in Mexico.
It was the Nova.

In Spanish, NO VA means doesn't go, or doesn't run.

Have fun with your search.

Best wishes
