Looking for 2 specific timers or watches #1 ? I need a silent timer to use in a mediation class I need a little timer, or watch with a timer, that will vibrate rather then beep (as not to disturb others). It should have a countdown time. Something that counts down. I need it for 2 hours, 1 hour, and 30 minute countdown times. If it had an optional beep, that would be nice, but must be able to do silent notification. It needs to also be silent when you press the buttons to set it. Would like to pay under $40 if possible. #2 ? I need a counter. Something I can wear on my wrist, or keep in my pocket, and pick on it whenever I see a bird (for example). At the end of the day, I can see how many birds I noticed for that day. It should be as small as possible since I would need to have it on me all the time. Would like to pay under $20 if possible. It would be great if both of these were combined in 1 inexpensive watch. It would be even better if that watch were a polar heartrate monitor watch, but I suspect those would be much much more then $70, or even $100. Thanx in advnce, Jim West |

jimwest-ga: Thank you for your question regarding a vibrating countdown timer, and a counter device. I have gathered information for multiple options for you, I hope that you find solutions that you like among these. SILENT TIMER ------------ The Invisible Clock - Timer with silent vibration or beep alert http://www.invisibleclock.com/ - seems to be the ultimate solution, retails for $39.95 ($3.25 S/H) Xacta Vibrating Alarm Clock Key Chain http://shop.store.yahoo.com/shoplifestyle/xacvibalcloc.html http://shop.store.yahoo.com/shoplifestyle/re887.html - seems to be the best priced option out there, $14.95, or $19.95 for 2, or $19.95 w/bonus Casio Forester Fishing Time Watch http://www.milnejewelry.com/Casio/casio17.html - more expensive than your $40 level, but can be worn as a watch COUNTER ------- The cheapest option would actually be a golf-stroke counter, such as: Golf South - Golf Accessories http://www.golfsouth2000.com/accessories_6.htm - see item 1114-7, you can find something like this in any golf equipment store - very light-weight, easy to carry in a pocket Another option is the traditional mechanical counter used at many public events: Punch Counter - Amber Sporting Goods http://www.ambersports.com/pcounter.html - heavy for everyday carrying In my opinion, any electronic counter that is integrated with a watch would be onerous to use, as you'd have to toggle between modes. You also mentioned that it would be great if these two capabilities could be found in a single device. I was not able to find something that featured both of these capabilities in one simple, inexpensive unit. So, I hope that one of the above options works for you. Please let me know if you would like me to clarify any part of this Answer. Regards, aht-ga Google Answers Researcher |
