I have a credit card but I am not sure which bank it is affiliated
with. Is it possible to determine which bank issued a credit card via
looking at the credit card number? |

The bank's identity is, in fact, encoded in the CC number, usually in
the first six digits. There are services that can identify the bank
for you, but they usually only deal with e-commerce sites.
Do you, by any chance, have a store set up on E-bay or Yahoo or
elsewhere on the web?

I do not own or run any ecommerce sales website company or any other
formal business. I am simply doing private research.

If you want to post the first six digits of the CC number in question,
and the city and state in which you live, it might be possible to
identify the bank.
Bear in mind, however, that this is a public forum. Anyone will be
able to see the information that you post here.

This is a generalized question on how to tell which bank would be
associated with any one or multiple credit card number combinations
for current as well as future reference... I will not post my cc # on
this site.

I've located a list of about 100 BIN's (bank identification numbers)
for credit cards that appears to include most of the major players.
Should I post a link to this list as an answer to your question?
