I have a URGENT and bizarre FCP 4 problem

I have a G4 tower running 10.2.6 and Final Cut Pro 4.

It is doing the following 3 problems.  All on an intermittent basis. 

1 -  Intermittently stops doing an autosaves.  I have to watch this
folder like a hawk.
2 ? The manual ?save? command doesn?t always work.  Yesterday, I lost
6 hours work since it never saved my project file, even though I did a
command-S
3 ? Worst of an, it randomly quits FCP for no reason.  At least 4-6
times a day it quits suddenly, losing any unsaved work.  Since the
Save command is not reliable, this could mean many hours of work..


I have not upgraded to FCP 4.1 yet, but did install these updates,
which did NOT make the problem go away:
