Is there a new Oracle Calendar/Corporate Time connector for Outlook
2003? I want to be able to sync the calendar on Oracle Calendar with
Outlook 2003. There are versions of this connector that allow a synch
between earlier versions of office.

Please tell me where to download it if it exists.

Thank you for your very timely question regarding the Outlook 2003
compatible version of the Oracle Calendar connector.

Oracle announced in November 2003 that this would be available in December:

http://otn.oracle.com/products/cs/pdfs/ocfo_sod.pdf

Sure enough, they released it as part of the Collaboration Suite
Release 2 (9.0.4.1.11). I was able to find for you a download site at
the University of Chicago; the download should work for any user, not
just University of Chicago users:

http://nsit.uchicago.edu/csm/calendaring/corporatetime/v904/

(scroll down to Windows Installers section)

I hope this meets your needs!

however, find a site where you could located here:

Sorry about that, when I posted the answer yesterday I was actually
able to download the file (and I am not attached to the University of
Chicago in any way). Given the size of the download from Oracle (as
they distribute the complete CD image), I had wanted to provide you
with a link to just the connector itself, to save you the bandwidth.

I hope that in spite of the file size, that you were able to get the
Outlook 2003 connector from the Oracle distribution, then?

Yes, I have a broadband connection and had no problems downloading the
file. I am however having one problem with the connector itself...

The calendar connection works fine, but the mail portion has some
querks ... for example:

If I try and sort my incoming mail by conversation it gives me an error:
"The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem.
Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please
reinstall."

I restarted outlook and got the same error, so I reinstalled the
connector and got the same error again.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

dmccall-ga:

That is strange, but it may actually be a bug in the new connector. I
myself use Outlook with an Exchange Server, and I observe that
whenever I am changing views, Outlook polls my Exchange Server for the
message list again. If you happen to be using an IMAP mail server,
most likely the same thing would occur. If so, and if using other view
types does not result in a similar problem, then the problem may well
be the connector. If you are using a POP3 mail server, then the mail
would be held locally, and this may be a bug in Outlook 2003, instead.

The Oracle forums are conveniently offline, so I was not able to look
to see if other people have reported the same problem. Before anything
else, though, perhaps you can try creating your own, custom view in
Outlook 2003, to see if perhaps it is simply the view definition of
the 'standard' sort-by-conversation view that has somehow been
corrupted. I believe that you can access this through View>Current
View>Define Views... however right now I am on an Outlook 2002 client,
so your menu structure may be different.
