Looking for title of pop song from 10+ years ago. Man and woman are
exchanging "snaps" or insults. She says, "you're just like Seven-Up,
never had it, never will..."

Hello roybatty!

I believe I have found that song that you're searching for. It has the
right lyrics, it was released almost 10 years ago, it has a man and a
woman in it, but there's one thing. It's not a pop tune. It's a rap
one.

The artist is Bloods & Crips, and the song is entitled "No Way Out"
off of their 1993 album "Bangin' On Wax"
Here is the song in question:
http://lyrics.astraweb.com/displayp.cgi?bloods_crips..bangin_on_wax..no_way_out

Here is their discography:

I searched for a biography on them, but turned up with nothing,
however I will not stop searching for some information about them, and
I will post it as I find it. I truely hope this is what you are
searching for.

Take care,
Suzanne

I thought I would give you a heads up in my investigation into
answering your question correctly.
I called up 7-up to get the year that the ad for "Never have, never
will" campaign ran, and they told me that it was roughly 1983. So I've
been browsing through music archives of Top 100 hits to find duets in
the 1980's. I turned up some possible matches, and I've been matching
the music with the lyrics. So far no hits, but I'm not giving up.
Just thought you'd like to know that I'm still hunting.

I know couple of gangsta rap with this line, but none is sang by a
woman. Are you sure its a woman?

Are you sure it is a pop tune, and not an ad for 7-up?

Paula Abdul with the cartoon tiger?

Sounds like it might be: "I Got a Man" by Positive K, from the 1992
album "Skills Dat Pay Da Bills":

That particular lyric you cite isn't in the song, but have a look at
the lyrics in the first link above and see if it rings a bell.

Hi,

I found something, with different people exchanging
lines, but apparently no woman :

Artist: MC Hammer
Album: The Funky Headhunter
Title: Break Em Off Somethin

Maybe the woman voice you think you remember is only chorus ?

Yes, it's a woman who speaks the lyric, not an ad jingle, not Paula
Abdul, not Positive K.

Not "Blood & Crips," this tune was played on top 40 radio station, had
two performers, man and a woman. Lyrics were clean, humorous, not
gangsta.

I apologize that wasn't the right song. I really thought I had nailed
that one, but seeing how I already answered the question, and it
wasn't the correct answer, I will keep going with the search, and post
results when I find them.

I deeply apologize (once again) for giving you the song you weren't
looking for. I did an exhaustive search of top songs in the 80's and
early 90's, starting with:
http://www.nostalgiafun.com/80sdate1.html
and I went up from there. For songs with duets I looked at lyrics for
any matches, but came up with nothing.
I searched for every possibility, and that was the only song that had
those specific lyrics in it.
So once again, I apologize.
