Looking for a pub in Edinburgh (scotland) with the NASN channel (north
american sports network) so i can watch a college basketball game on
saturday (17th). I'm not sure what satellite network it's included
in, so that may help find an answer. Thank you!

It appears NASN is available as a subscription channel on Sky Digital:
http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/t/40858/ds.html

However I don't see it listed as a separate channel on www.sky.co.uk

Sky Sports 2 is showing NBA Basketball tomorrow (Sat) at 9.00 am
"Coverage of the game between the Indiana Pacers and the San Antonio
Spurs at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis."
http://www.sky.com/skycom/tvguide/0,,522-1-15796761,00.html

If that is the game you want to watch then probably your best bet is
one of the Sportsters sport themed bars: the former Scotsman
printworks (probably below or near The Scotsman Hotel) behind
Edinburgh Waverley station at 1a Market St)

or
http://www.citypeople.info/

NASN is the digital TV channel dedicated to North American sports
every minute of every day on Sky channel 420 and ntl:home channel 917
in the UK and ntl:home channel 176 in Ireland.
http://www.gridironuk.co.uk/nasn_promo.php

It appears it's not included in the Sky packages (hence not listed on
the www.sky.co.uk) but has a separate subscription:

You can subscribe very easily in the following ways:
Sky customers call 08708 50 30 30
ntl:home customers call 0800 052 2000
www.nasn.com
Remember to quote: FOOT / BAFL

The listings at
http://www.satmania.com/eng/tvguide/weekly/sky_digital/cjx/?date=2004-01-17
gave no programmes for tomorrow (Sat) but perhaps they haven't
uploaded them yet. Note the times on that site are CET not GMT
timezone.

Hope that helps and it's not too late.

If the match you wanted was "NCAA Hoops: NC State vs Duke Julius Hodge
and the Wolfpack will take their sharp-shooting attack to Cameron
Indoor Stadium, where Coach K's 2nd-ranked Blue Devils are very hard
to beat." it was broadcast at 5.30 am CET - you'd be hard pressed to
find a pub even in Edinburgh still serving at that hour (although not
impossible, allegedly).

Thanks VERY MUCH for your help -- I would have given you the answer,
but I don't think its possible to earn money unless you're a google
researcher.

Essentially, I just needed to call around and figure out which pubs
had the NASN on their satellite TV. After about the 10th call, I just
gave up and watched the Internet scoreboard in realtime.

Cheers mate,
Dustin
