Is it possible for a human to use each eye independently, processing
the left and right eye as independent visual pictures with no depth,
rather than overlaying them for stereoscopic vision? For instance, to
be able to read a book
with one eye while using the other to look in another direction and
watch a doorway, or to simultaniously view two seperate televisions?

I am primarilly looking for information on training that would allow
an adult human to accomplish this in a useful way, or humans who have
accomplished this somehow. I would also be
interested in and accept information on brain damage, developmental
issues or other unintentional aquisition of something like the aboved
traight, if there is no information on intentional aquisition
avalible.

I am not interested in independent eye movement in any species other than humans.
