Hello, marah-ga!

The quotation you have cited originates from a book written by Nicolai
Berdyaev, titled "Origin of Russian Communism." The book was
originally published in 1960 by the University of Michigan Press.

The quote from Berdyaev (and it's source) is mentioned in a series of
Christian writings by Douglas Beyer on the following web page:
http://www.christians.org/prayer/lordsprayer.htm

I have excerpted the quote as it appears under the heading, "An Unselfish Prayer."

"This is where the spiritual and the material embrace. "The question
of bread for myself is a material question, but the question of bread
for my neighbors, for everybody, is a spiritual and a religious
question....Christians ought to be permeated with a sense of the
religious importance of the elementary daily needs of people, the vast
masses of people, and not despise these needs from a sense of exalted
spirituality" (Nicolai Berdyaev in Origin of Russian Communism).

"The Origin of Russian Communism," by Nicolas Berdyaev may be ordered
from the University of Michigan Press if you are interested in
obtaining a copy.

I hope this helps!

marah-ga,

I am sorry I did not have an opportunity to provide a page number for
the citation before you rated my answer with only 3-stars. Since your
question asked where the citation came from, and not the page number,
I did not understand that it was integral to your answer. As there is
no online edition of the book, I would have been more than happy to
track down the page number today via a phone call. Unfortunately, I
could not do that at 11pm last night!
Researchers are always more than happy to answer a clarification
request before an answer is rated. I would have glady done my best to
provide further information if you had allowed me the opportunity!

Mark-ga added the page references in a comment, and that was brilliant! Thanks!

One useful fact that might be added to umiat-ga's excellent answer is
that the quote you are seeking is found on page 185 of the 1960
University of Michigan edition of "The Origin of Communism" that is
cited in the answer.

Used copies of various editions of the book are available from online
booksellers, including these, listed at Bookfinder.com:
