I have a home that was mold mitigated recently. The walls are plaster and lath (plaster veneer I believe if there is a distinction between the two) and the mitigation left 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms with no blueboard, plaster or lath on the bottom 4 feet of all the walls. I am contemplating redoing the plaster myself but I'm getting the impression there is something of an art to it. I'm wondering if its viable for me to tackle this job myself given a certain amount of handiness (I can drywall and reinstall complete bathrooms, for instance) and if so if there are newer techniques that might make my particular situation easier to fix(I understand its normally a multi-coat process). If it is not viable I wonder what the odds are it will jibe with the building code and if a nice join can be made if I were to demolish the plaster and lath up to the ceiling line and install drywall in its place (for only the damaged part of the house and leaving the ceilings plaster)? |
