I am looking for studies and research that deal with Opiates being
used to treat depression. These are studies where they are specifly
dealing with seriously depressed people, or treatment resistant people
and using any type of opiate to try and treat the depression. I have
found a few on the web already by using Google but I am hoping there
are more out there. These need to studies done by professonals
published in respected medical journals. I need copies of the whole
paper. Double blind studies prefered. The more studies that can be
found the more I can pay. I am a little bit new to this so please
feel free to over advice on how I should ask this question and how
much to pay. I was thinking about $20.00 for a clear overview and
$5.00 per paper. But don't overwelm me. Five to ten sold studies
should due. I have been researching this for a long time on the web
and in libaries so I am pretty familiar with searchs results givin by
MSN, Google, Alta-vista, deja news, newsgroups and commen means of
searching the web etc. What I don't have access to are medical and
Psych journals and medical jounals from different countries and
colleges and things that are not on the web. Thank you

uraihsky,
I doubt you'll find what you want. Stopping opiate use helps
"secondary" depression [caused by drugs, et.].

One tangential factor is that people who have chronic pain get
depressed. Opiates to treat the pain can be part of the treatment of
the depression.

I haven't seen complete papers on the subject, but there is a site
with abstracts of papers about the subject. I couldn't say if I can
get the complete texts. What's more common is the stuff that
Heybill-ga mentioned - opioids being used to treat physical pain.

Thanks for the input. There might not be any studies done or just a
few. I did see a few abstracts, probably the ones mentioned by
Techtor-ga. I guess all I can do is leave the question out there and
keep looking on my own.
thank you
